Certified Pre-Owned Toyota Dealer

Brand new cars are a big responsibility. You know you’re getting a great, state-of-the-art vehicle, but getting exactly the features you want can often break the budget. At the same time, many of us don’t have the time or energy to search every used car lot for the diamond in the rough. If you empathize a little too readily with these statements, the time has come to visit Romeoville Toyota, your Certified Pre-Owned Toyota dealer.

We all know that Toyota is a brand to trust, with decades of vehicles that have led the industry in safety, technology, and reliability. But for many of us, getting a brand new dream car is a plan that’s on indefinite hold. Toyota’s Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) program gives drivers a way to buy a next-to-new vehicle with all of the most recent bells and whistles along with the peace of mind of a warranty. At Romeoville Toyota, we’re thrilled to provide CPO Toyotas to the population of Illinois and beyond. But what makes Certified Pre-Owned Toyotas a good deal, and why should you search for your ideal new car on the CPO lot?

What Makes a CPO Toyota the Best?

In order to understand what makes a Certified Pre-Owned Toyota the best decision for your car-buying dollar, it’s important to look at what a CPO Toyota really is. When you purchase a Certified Pre-Owned Toyota from Romeoville, the certification comes from the vehicle meeting strict guidelines put in place by the manufacturer. You can be sure that any Certified Pre-Owned vehicle on our lot has been thoroughly inspected and reconditioned, so it is in like-new condition. Each CPO Toyota comes with manufacturer’s warranties, as well as several very nice perks, to back them up.

In order to ensure that every CPO Toyota is in the best possible condition, the manufacturer has set up a series of guidelines that each potential vehicle must meet in order to receive certification. First, it has to be fewer than 6 model years old. That means that, for example, a CPO Toyota in 2021 was manufactured no earlier than 2015. Additionally, each vehicle must have no more than 85,000 miles on the odometer. Each vehicle is subjected to a full CARFAX vehicle history report, as well as a 160-point inspection, which we’ll look at more closely later in this article.

So what do you get, besides a relatively new vehicle with barely any miles and the reassurance that both the vehicle and its title are clean? Each CPO Toyota comes with two very important warranties. The first is a 12-month/12,000-mile Limited Warranty. This warranty covers repairs or replacements for problems due to normal use or defect.

The second is a 7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty. This covers the major engine, transmission, and powertrain components. While this will certainly save you in case something serious happens, Toyota goes the extra mile for CPO customers. In addition to covering the parts, you’ll also receive a loaner car while yours is being repaired, along with travel protection with lodging and meal reimbursement if your vehicle should break down when you’re more than 150 miles from home. If you’ve got a hybrid Toyota on your wishlist, these vehicles are also covered. Hybrid components get their own 8-year/100,000-mile warranty from their first sale date.

That’s not to say that Certified Pre-Owned Toyota drivers won’t have protection closer to home. In fact, they’ll receive 7 years/100,000 miles of 24-hour roadside assistance, including flat tire replacement, jump starts, opening your car when you’re locked out, towing to the nearest Toyota dealership if your vehicle is fully disabled, and providing you with gasoline in case you run out.

All of these coverages are considered transferable, too. That means that if things don’t work out with your new CPO Toyota during the warranty period, or if you transfer ownership to your spouse, child, or friend, they can enjoy the benefits of the remainder of the warranty.

The Toyota CPO Inspection Process Covers These Vital Components

When it comes to vehicle inspections, many of us are at least a little bit skeptical. Surely not every inspection can be as thorough as the next, right? In the case of Certified Pre-Owned Toyotas, each inspection is required to be thorough. In fact, the manufacturer provides each trained technician with a checklist that must be completed and then submitted to Toyota directly in order for the vehicle to receive its certification.

So, what types of things does the Toyota CPO Inspection take into account? With 160 points in the standard inspection and 174 for hybrid vehicles, there’s more than can be listed here. However, Toyota is very transparent with its inspection requirements. The complete inspection checklist can be downloaded from Toyota’s Certified Pre-Owned site for those who want all the nitty-gritty specifics.

Basically, what we are trying to say is that everything is checked, inside and out. From the dings and dents in the paint to the smoothness of the braking process, each car, truck, and SUV is fully evaluated. Sections of the inspection checklist include Audio and Alarm Systems, Braking System, Engine Compartment, Interior and Exterior Condition and Appearance, Steering, HVAC, Structure, and even a full review of the Truck Compartment. Examples of checklist requirements include that all tires are the same brand, model, size, tread, and ratings, while brake pads and shoes cannot be worn past 50%.

But what happens if a vehicle doesn’t quite meet the requirements? Toyota requires that anything that does not meet the standard must be repaired by a trained technician. Any safety recalls that have not been addressed by the vehicle’s previous owner must be completed, and to alleviate any doubt that these items have been addressed, the technicians must supply documented proof of the updates and fixes.
