5 Features Commuters Love About the Toyota Camry

There’s an old joke that they wouldn’t call it work if it was all fun and games. The fact is, even if you like what you do for a living, they still have to pay you for the time you spend at the office, lab, or wherever. But you don’t get paid for the time it takes to get into Chicago every day; that half-hour or so that you spend driving up from Joliet each way can start to add up. This is time away from your home, friends, and family, yet you do it without compensation.
You should get something out of it, and that really boils down to your means of transport: you need a car that’ll make your commute more enjoyable and less of a chore. At Romeoville Toyota, we offer the full lineup, including the Toyota Prius, Toyota RAV4, and Toyota Camry for sale near Joliet, IL. The Camry is one of Toyota’s most popular models, and this midsize sedan is full of great features for improving your commute; here are five of them…
#1) Save at the Pump
One of the best features of the Toyota Camry is its exceptional fuel economy. You’ll get an economical engine regardless of your chosen model because Toyota is dedicated to efficiency in their powertrains, helping drivers like you save money on gas.
The base powertrain on most 2023 Toyota Camry models is a 2.5L Dynamic Force I-4 gas engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission; this engine features dual variable valve timing to deliver more efficient performance. Despite its size, this engine delivers 202 to 206 hp at 6,600 RPM and 182 to 186 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 RPM. The differences in horsepower and torque depend on which trim level and drivetrain you choose, as the Camry with this engine is available with front-wheel and all-wheel drive. If you choose front-wheel drive, you can get up to an EPA-estimated 32 MPG in combined fuel economy, while all-wheel drive provides a still exceptional 29 MPG combined.
You can also get a larger engine on your 2023 Camry—a 3.5L V6, which is standard on the TRD, XLE V6, and XSE V6 trims—and this, too, has dual variable valve timing and utilizes an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, this has a higher output of 301 hp at 6,600 RPM and 267 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 RPM. As a result, the Camry with the V6 engine has exceptional acceleration, able to go from zero to sixty in just 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 134 mph. However, this front-wheel drive-only Camry doesn’t deliver the same gas mileage, as it gets a still-respectable 26 MPG in combined fuel economy.
The best fuel economy is on the 2023 Camry Hybrid. This model pairs a 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gas engine with a permanent-magnet synchronous AC motor powered by a 1.6-kWh nickel-metal-hydride battery pack. At lower speeds, the gas engine charges the battery pack through a generator; the Camry Hybrid also uses brake recapture to recharge the battery. As a result, the combined powertrain provides up to 208 hp while delivering an incredible 52 MPG in combined fuel economy. Best of all, the Camry Hybrid is built on the same platform as the conventional gas engine model, so it has comparable passenger space and the same amount of cargo space in the trunk.

#2) No Sticker Shock
One of the biggest stories of the past few years is inflation’s effect on our economy. Goods and services cost more now than they did a few years ago. This is especially important when deciding on a vehicle for your daily commute. When you have to pay extra for gas and your car, it is akin to swimming upstream, paying off more bills from the same amount of work.
Fortunately, when buying a 2023 Camry, you’re sure to notice the affordability of this vehicle. For example, the base MSRP on a 2023 Camry LE is only $26,320.[a] If you go up to the top trim for the conventional gas model, you’ll see that the price is only about $10k more than for the entry-level trim. Even the 2023 Camry Hybrid is affordable, with a base MSRP of $28,655.[a] This is a great way to save money while you get to work to earn more for your household.
#3) Staying Connected
Each 2023 Toyota Camry model comes equipped with a Toyota Audio Multimedia system, with the ability to upgrade to a more advanced one if you desire. The LE, SE, and TRD models feature an infotainment system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen and a six-speaker stereo. You can connect your smartphone with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing you to stream from your favorite apps, as well as make hands-free calls and texts. The system also comes with a three-month Platinum Plan trial subscription to SiriusXM for the best in music, sports, talk, comedy, and news, which is a great way to stay informed and entertained.
If you choose the XLE or XSE with the I-4 gas engine, you will get an Audio Plus system with a 9.0-inch touchscreen. The Audio Plus is offered as an option on the LE and SE models; the XLE V6 and XSE V6 have a 9.0-inch touchscreen and a nine-speaker JBL audio system, which improves the sound quality and is a great choice if you are a true audiophile. You can get this system as an option on the TRD model.
The most advanced infotainment system on the 2023 Camry is the Premium Audio system, which takes the Audio Plus system and adds a built-in Dynamic Navigation system. The Toyota Premium Audio is offered as an option on the XLE and XSE models of the 2023 Camry.
#4) Comfort & Convenience
Sitting in traffic is never fun, especially if the car you’re driving isn’t comfortable—hence why Toyota has taken steps to make the interior of the 2023 Camry as comfortable and convenient as possible. Some are small details, like having enough cup holders or USB charging ports easily accessible from the driver’s seat. Some models even come with a Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging deck; this is great if you want to clean up your cord clutter.
Toyota has also taken steps so that every driver’s seat in the Camry is as comfortable as possible. You’ll get an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support no matter which trim level you choose. This makes it easy to get your driver’s seat set to the most comfortable position; the power lumbar support will help reduce back strain, especially if you’re stuck in Chicago’s notorious traffic.
You can get seats with classy and comfortable upholstery, depending on your trim level. The LE model features fabric-trimmed seats, while the TRD and SE use a synthetic called Sport SofTex, and the XLE and XSE models have leather seats that are quite luxurious.

#5) Standard Safety Features
Every year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) runs a series of tests on most passenger vehicles. The top models are named Top Safety Picks, with the IIHS awarding the best ones in each class as the Top Safety Pick+. The IIHS named the 2023 Toyota Camry a Top Safety Pick+ among all midsize cars, primarily due to its set of Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ active driver assistance features.
Each of these six standard features will help make your commute safer and easier. For example, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning will help keep you in your lane if you get distracted; this uses slight steering adjustments to prevent your Camry from drifting in traffic. The Forward Collision Alert and Automatic Emergency Braking will alert you if the driver in front of you stops short and will use the emergency brakes to help you avoid an accident. You can also use the Following Distance Indicator to maintain a proper speed and a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
With So Much to Love, You’ll Look Forward to Monday!
For most folks, Monday morning can be a bit of a drag—but the 2023 Toyota Camry has so many fun features you’re liable to start looking forward to Monday morning. This will mean another exciting week with your Camry and all its fun features. While we can’t guarantee this will always be the case, we are sure that the next Camry you buy at Romeoville Toyota is a sedan you’ll love!
