Wheel Alignment

Wheel Alignment Services at Romeoville Toyota

If you are a car owner, then you are probably used to the fact that your car needs a lot of maintenance to keep it running as long as possible. While most places have a long checklist of routine maintenance things to check for, one of the vehicle services that often gets overlooked by third-party mechanics is wheel alignment. Wheel alignment is where you adjust the wheel angles and suspension to be within the manufacturer's specifications to ensure your car is driving smoothly and optimizing gas mileage.

If you typically get your routine maintenance done at a local mechanic’s shop, they may not include wheel alignment in their package. Oil change, fluid refills, tire inflation, and air filter replacement are generally all they take care of when you ask for routine maintenance. Here at Romeoville Toyota, our certified technicians are highly skilled at performing wheel alignments. When you bring your vehicle in for maintenance, simply ask our team to check the alignment of the wheels too.

What Is the Importance of a Wheel Alignment?

So, why should you bother asking for a wheel alignment service? Believe it or not, having the right angles for your wheels will determine how quickly your tires wear down. If you have an accident, run over a curb, or simply hit a pothole, the alignment of your wheels could become misaligned. This causes premature wear to the tread of your tires. If you leave the bad alignment, your tires will go bald quicker, and you will notice that the vehicle will pull to one side instead of driving straight. You may also experience decreased fuel efficiency.

Our experts recommend that you have your vehicle’s wheel alignment check every two to three years. However, if you feel that the alignment is off, you can get this service at any time. If you drive a lot, you may even want to have the alignment checked every time you go in for an oil change. It doesn’t hurt and can serve as a preventative measure.

There are a few different signs that may indicate poor wheel alignment. The first obvious giveaway is that your vehicle is pulling to the right or left when you drive. A proper wheel alignment will have you driving in a straight line. If your steering wheel is crooked or if you notice your tires wearing down quickly, these are also signs of poor wheel alignment. Finally, if you hear strange noises coming from your wheels or steering wheel, this could indicate that a wheel alignment service is needed.

We do not recommend that you drive for very long if you notice any of the above indicators. Poor wheel alignment isn’t just bad for your gas mileage and tires. It can also be very dangerous. You won’t be able to stop as quickly with a poor wheel alignment, and that can be potentially deadly on busy streets.

Tire/Wheel Alignment at Romeoville Toyota

Generally, a wheel alignment service costs between $65 and $100; however, here at Romeoville Toyota, our specialists offer free wheel alignment checks for every vehicle. That means any make and model. We don’t discriminate! Oh, and did we mention that no purchase is necessary to get this free vehicle service?

One of our top priorities here at Romeoville Toyota is to send safe vehicles out onto the roads. We love our community and want nothing more than to keep it safe with happy drivers and maintained vehicles. Aligning the wheels of a car can take about an hour. Although it isn’t a difficult task to undertake, we do not recommend aligning your wheels yourself. Let your mechanic handle that particular service.

Our Other Services

In addition to our available wheel alignment services, our experts also offer other vehicle services, including oil changes, brake repair, battery replacement, tire rotation, and tire replacement. Each of these services can be conveniently scheduled online, or you can give us a call during our business hours on Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM or Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Our service department is closed on Sundays.

Every Toyota vehicle is different when it comes to manufacturer-recommended maintenance, and every specific vehicle is different based on how you drive it. Take oil changes, for example. Every car is going to be different when it comes to oil type and how long you should go between oil changes. Always check your owner's manual to see how often your vehicle needs oil changes. When it's time for you to get your oil changed, bring your car to the experts here at Romeoville Toyota. We use genuine Toyota and Mobil 1 motor oils to keep your car running smoothly.

We also offer brake services and repairs. If you have noticed that your vehicle isn’t stopping as quickly, it may be time to come get the brake pads replaced. Other indicators include excessive noise while braking as well as vibrations, pulling, brake dust on the wheels, and a stuck feel when pushing on the brake pedal. Our factory-trained technicians use genuine Toyota brake pads to ensure that your Toyota will outlast the competition. We will replace the old pads with ceramic brake pads that reduce dust, heat, and noise. This service ensures that your vehicle is safe to drive on the streets and that it has the maximum amount of stopping power.

Have you ever been in a hurry to get somewhere and the car wouldn’t start? It always happens at the worst possible time. A dead battery can leave you stranded for hours waiting on a tow truck. Here at Romeoville Toyota, we offer battery replacement. If you have recently had to jumpstart your vehicle or if you notice stains or corrosion on the battery, it may be time for a replacement. We use Toyota TrueStart batteries, and we offer battery testing at every routine maintenance checkup.

Finally, let’s discuss tires. There is more to think about than just wheel alignment. If you own a FWD or RWD vehicle, the tires will not wear down evenly. They need to be rotated every 6,000 miles or so to ensure that all four tires are aging at the same pace. FWD models tend to put more stress on the front wheels, and RWD models do the same to the back wheels, so ask our technicians to adjust them accordingly. Also, if you run over a nail or shard of glass, we offer tire replacement. New tires provide excellent stopping power, and they help maximize the vehicle’s fuel economy. Plus, driving on a flat tire can destroy the wheel and cause much more costly damage overall.
